Pista & Figs Modak

Pista – 200 gms
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Powdered sugar – 50 gms
Milk – ¼ cup
Silver Varakh for garnish (if we are not putting it then remove this)
Water as required

For the filing

Soaked figs – 2-3
Chopped toasted Nuts of choice – ¼ cup

  1. Soak the pistas for about 30 mins in hot water. Then de-skin them. Grind them using a little milk and water to form a fine paste. Now add this to a pan and cook along with sugar till it thickens & starts leaving the sides of the pan. Remove & allow to cool slightly.
  2. For the filling, soak the figs in hot water for 30 mins. Toast all the nuts. Then drain the water from the figs & roughly chop along with the nuts.
  3. Now take a modak mould, grease them with some ghee, take some of the pista mixture & press it down in the mould keeping some space in the center for the filling. Add the filling and seal with some more pista mixture.
  4. Remove the modak from the mould gently.
  5. Garnish with varakh and let them become the beauty of your puja ki thaali!
