Chocolate Modak

Mixed Nuts of choice (cashew, walnuts, almonds) – 1 cup
Dates (deseeded) – 1/2 cup
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Cocoa powder – 2 tbsp
Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
Equipment to shape them– modak molds

  1. In a kadhai, add ghee & toss the nuts till golden and crunchy.
  2. Once done, remove on to a plate and allow them to cool.
  3. Grind them coarsely in a blender and remove in a bowl.
  4. Now grind the dates, make a paste and add it to the same bowl of
    the nut mixture.
  5. To this add cocoa powder and vanilla essence and mix till
    everything is well combined.
  6. Grease the modak molds with some ghee, add the prepared
    mixture.
  7. Press and gently open to see a beautiful modak ready on your palm within minutes. Make more and serve immediately or store in an airtight container. These will easy last for a week.
