Full-fat milk- 1 lit

Water – 1 cup

Rice – 60 gm ( washed and soaked for 30 mins)

Green cardamom pods- 3-4

Sugar – 60 gm

Almonds( halved) – 6-8

Cashews(halved) – 6-8

Pista (halved) – 6-8

For Garnish:

Dried rose petals

  1. Crush the soaked rice with your fingers slightly to break the grains & drain out the water.
  2. In a deep-bottomed pan, add milk along with cardamom pods, water & rice.
  3. Now switch on the flame and start stirring immediately.
  4. Once the milk comes to a rolling boil, lower the flame & let the rice cook on cook on gentle heat while stirring frequently.
  5. Once the rice is half cooked, add all the nuts & mix well to soften them slightly.
  6. Once the rice is done & the milk is reduced to 3/4th of its quantity.
  7. Add sugar, switch off the flame, give it a quick stir, cover and let it sit for 5-7 mins.
  8. Pour the prepared kheer into serving bowls of choice& garnish with dried rose petals and serve these warm or chilled. Enjoy.
