Khichdi
Ingredients
Rice – ¼ cup (washed & drained)
Moong dal – ½ cup (washed & drained)
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Cinnamon stick- 1
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Salt – to taste
Water – 3 cups
Thick curd (to serve along with khichdi)
Papad Churi
Ingredients
Moong dal papad- 2
Ghee (melted)
Red chilli powder- ½ tsp
Coriander powder – a pinch
Chaat masala – a pinch
Salt- to taste
For Garnish
Fresh coriander leaves
Method:-
– Heat ghee in a pressure cooker over medium heat, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
– Add a cinnamon stick and let it fragrant.
– Now, add moong along with rice dal & give a stir.
– Season with salt and turmeric powder. Sauté everything well.
– Add water and give a stir.
– Close the cooker with its lid and cook on high heat till the first whistle. Then lower the heat and cook till another 3 whistles. Switch off the flame and keep the cooker aside.
– Once the pressure releases naturally, open the lid and gently stir the khichdi.
– Pour in serving bowls and top with a layer of thick curd along with chatpati papad Churi.
Papad Churi recipe as follows:-
Method:-
– Roast the papad well on an open fire.
– In a mixing bowl add melted ghee along with all the spices mentioned above & coriander leaves. Mix well
– Now, break the roasted papad in ghee mixture and toss everything together to combine well and papad gets coated with masala.
